Balaton Summer

Central Europe's biggest lake, the Balaton is the perfect family spot for the summer. The lake is shallow, summers are usually long and hot, prices are affordable. I've spent many many summers at the lake and even today, when I think about going back, sweet memories warm my heart. I remember being there as a kid, there is nothing like it, it's one huge playground where everything is possible. Now as a photographer, I have an easy job, as today's kids are just like we were. Free and happy. The best models, as long as you are close enough, as Robert Capa said.

Another easy target. Enzo was with us at the photo shoot of Michelle's store and while the ladies were preparing the next outfit, I was shooting Enzo, who was actually asking for being photographed all the time, a perfect model. He wasn't shy, happy to pose, all photographers' dream subject.

Christmas Candy

My 3 year old niece is celebrating Christmas in her new dress, while taking the foil off of a traditional Hungarian Christmas candy. In the meantime I was celebrating Christmas with my new 35mm fixed lens, chasing the girls around my mother's apartment (the usual scene of the family Christmas) trying to take a good shot of them.  Fixed lens teach you discipline. You can only zoom in and out with your own body movement, the high aperture (to avoid using a flash) will eventually lead you to set the focus manually instead of the auto-focus.

The Niece

Photographing little kids is always a challenge. They are unpredictable when it comes to mood, movements or behavior, putting the patience and stamina of the photographer on trial. They don't obey to directions, on the other hand they are rarely camera shy, always natural and if put in the right environment, nearly always cheerful. Hence the result can compensate the effort and we should never forget that they grow up so quickly, every opportunity to capture them is a gift. My niece is 2.5 years old, the pictures are taken in Budapest, Hungary.
